Kentucky natives now living in Nashville, Austin Gee and Brooks Hoffman make up SixForty1, the country duo we think you need to know about.

Although they didn’t meet until college at Murray State in Kentucky, Austin and Brooks both recall catching the ‘music bug’ very early in life. For Brooks, he started guitar and drum lesses at 9, while Austin began singing as early as he possibly could.

They were destined for music.

With catchy, upbeat songs, relatable lyrics, and a hint of that red dirt Texas country sound (think Josh Abbott Band), we’re loving what we’re hearing from SixForty1 and can’t wait to hear more new music from them. Apparently, other country music fans are too – the duo’s latest single, “Plane Crazy” already has more than 1.3 million streams on Spotify!

Want more music? Check out their first two EPs on Spotify. This Friday, November 9th, SixForty1 is releasing their next single, “Maybe I Might.”

Keep reading to find out how SixForty1 was formed, where Austin and Brooks like to grab a bite to eat in Music City, and what other country music artists you need to know about!

Q & A | SixForty1

Country Clones | Tell us how you two met and formed a country duo?
SixForty1 | We met our sophomore year at Murray State University at a sorority talent competition. Austin was playing guitar during dress rehearsal, so Brooks came up and asked him what he was going to play. Austin said he might play an original song. Brooks said, “me too.” It was at that point in time that we decided to write together and form a country duo.
